Artificial Intelligence on Understanding Human Emotion

It is typical to associate robots as cold-blooded ruthless creatures even when they are formed with metal. As we humans are warm-blooded, of course robots and humans on paper would not go well with each other.

But, recent advancements in technology and artificial intelligence hope to point in the opposite direction. Through studies conducted through Twitter, artificial intelligence analyzed over five million samples of tweets in order to detect various emotions. Though, the results showed that artificial intelligence came up with low accuracy of detecting and understanding the emotions of humans.

Another instance, two million reviews of Apple podcasts were trained under artificial intelligence to check trends in human responses. Yet again, it came up with low accuracy as 89% of artificial intelligence results came up with happy emotions rather than sad or angry emotions through the reviews.

As these results show, artificial intelligence can be very good at many different fields, but it does not fare well in detecting the emotional appeals of humans. Earlier claims of humans and robots being incompatible may be true, however, as technology advances and artificial intelligence progresses further, we can only hope that this difference does not expand but rather contract.
