Artificial Intelligence Role in Sports and Betting

Sports, we all love to watch them in our spare time, keeping up with the latest scores, players, and teams. From basketball to gymnastics, almost all sports have statlines where the viewers can determine who is the best and who had the best performance for a game.

Artificial intelligence has recently gained the ability to do just that. For example, the vector machine model can track which team will win the game, based on team performance, individual player performance, and sports analytics in general. From this, artificial intelligence has the capability to help out sports bettors to gain money and have an advantage over other bettors.

However, artificial intelligence as of now has limited accuracy to predict which team will win as they have a 70% accuracy rate. This isn’t far from the average sports fan who regularly keeps up with their teams and players to predict who would win a game between two different teams. However, sports bettors mainly bet on statlines rather than which team will win the next game.

Artificial intelligence has a higher chance to predict the performance of the players rather than the probability of a team winning a game as there are less factors for an individual player to perform with over an 80% prediction accuracy.

Overall, it may be a good financial investment for sports bettors to strategize artificial intelligence to predict the statlines of players over the probability of a team winning a game.
